How A CDAP Can Help Mow Your Lawn

A couple of weeks ago I was driving to get my morning coffee.  This particular day happened to be the last day of elementary school in our neighbourhood; and so, beyond the normal traffic chaos things were a bit slower due to the last day’s excitement.

It also happened to be an “outdoor activity day” where children get to play games for dollar store prizes and icy treats.  Besides Disneyland and puppies, this is pretty much heaven for 5–12-year-olds.

Or at least it should have been…

You see the school board’s maintenance crew decided that this morning was the optimal time to cut the lawn….  So, they parked their vehicles in the drop-off zone and “got to work”.  This delayed traffic and the day’s activity kick off for about 30 minutes.  Which intern impacted the day’s schedule (with impatient children) and finally; lead to fresh grass clipping on everyone’s clothing, knees, and elbows.  Think Kermit the frog and you’ve got a clear picture of what parents picked up that afternoon…

This is a prime example of how a CDAP would have helped.

Some of the many areas we cover at TGL are internal communication, business process (scheduling…) improvement, and how technology can help you become more agile.

A simple global calendar entry would have made the crews aware: a basic service ticket system could have anticipated the earlier entry and seamlessly rerouted the crew elsewhere or worse case done a real-time redeployment.

In the end, the crew did their job and an excellent one at that however, did they really provide a service?

As business owners we are all in the “service industry”; any chance you’ve ever done exactly as asked and still missed the mark?

When was the last time you “weeded” your technology roadmap?

At TGL we take the time to listen to your challenges and provide an unbiased view of your options.

We aren’t affiliated with any vendors so; the choice will always be in your control.
